Nonna Gallucci has today done what Adelaide Football Club player welfare officers have failed to do and taken care of Kyle Cheney in the wake of his devastating delisting.
After hearing the news on her kitchen radio, she immediately went to her little black book of contacts and rang Cheney to offer her condolences and put several Italian curses on the Adelaide Football Club.
It is understood that Nonna then made a four kilogram lasagne for her grandson Jordan to take over to Cheney’s house.
Cheney said the support was welcome.
“It’s a tough time, but Nonna has been really supportive. When Justin Reid gave me the call I was in a bit of a mess. I mean how does Jake Kelly get a gig ahead of me?”
“I’ve chowed through about half of Nonna’s lasagne already, so it doesn’t look like my skinfolds will be up to scratch if another club wants to have a look at me, but that’s the way it goes unfortunately.”
