Joel Selwood has progressed through to the final of the World Diving Championships after a nervous evening at the AFL Tribunal.
Selwood faced a tough challenge to progress, with the Victorian-centric tribunal historically reluctant to acknowledge his diving abilities.
However, he finally had the breakthrough he had been seeking for so long, with the tribunal unable to ignore the overwhelming evidence presented. The tribunal was defeated when it was revealed that Adelaide Crows midfielder Bryce Gibbs braced for contact initiated by Selwood, that caused Selwood to leave the ground for a period of time.
Selwood faces a tough opponent in the final, with Brazilian Footballer Neymar having progressed through the qualifying rounds against the world’s best divers in the FIFA World Cup.
The Journal understands that Selwood will continue to work on his signature ‘shoulder shrug’ before heading to the Mediterranean for the final.
More to come.
