Shockwaves have been sent through West Lakes today after rumours emerged that a member of the Crows coaching panel has suggested dropping Rory Atkins for this weeks game.
The coach, who at this point cannot be named, made the suggestion during the weekly review of the previous game, pointing out the several basic skill errors and lack of intensity shown by Atkins on numerous occasions.
“Fellas, we know Rory is a good lad and a talented player, but maybe he has to go back to the twos for a bit of confidence this week” the coach was reported to have said.
It is understood that this suggestion was met with immediate criticism, with head coach Don Pyke quickly pointing out that Atkins was the holder of an Adelaide Crows ‘Gold Pass’ which meant that he was unable to be dropped unless severely injured.
Other Gold Pass holders famously include David Mackay, who no coach has ever suggested dropping.
