Marshall King has today spent his morning watching football highlights, not of the Adelaide Crows, but from the NAB Under 18 Championships.
King, a lifelong Crows supporter is sporting a heavy head after drinking away the memory of his teams dismal loss to Fremantle.
However, it appears that he has a new passion.
“I’ve always been interested in how the next crop of AFL superstars are coming along. This year in particular is chock full of SA talent. Big Jack Lukosious, Izak Rankine, Jackson Hately. These guys are breaking the mould of what it means to be an AFL footballer.”
King’s friends say that the only reason he even knows the name of a single player outside of the AFL system is because the Crows are so bad that they are likely to receive a top 5 draft pick this year.
“The bloke has never even watched an SANFL game, let alone a SA v Allies Under 18’s game. If the Crows weren’t shithouse, he would be blowing up our group chat with memes about Darcy Fogarty and Tom Doedee.”
King though is resolute.
“Mate I love junior football. I might see if I can get some tickets to the SA under 14’s when they play Victoria. It’s such a rivalry, you just have to be there.”
