Adelaide Crows defender Rory Laird has been involved in an unfortunate incident today in Melbourne’s CBD.
The All Australian Defender, who stands at an exaggerated 5ft 10ins, was dining with teammates prior to his teams first game of the season when he was handed a children’s colouring book and crayons by a waitress.
It was only when the waitress heard Laird’s deep voice that she realised her mistake, refusing to serve the team for the rest of sitting.
Thankfully, Mr. Laird and his teammates, saw the funny side.
Rory said: “As I said thank you to the waitress she heard my voice and knew I wasn’t a child.
“She immediately put the colouring book behind her back in shock.
“But I am man enough to see the funny side, I would never take offence.”
Laird continued: “Life has not been easy – when I was young I had a lot of surgery and went through a time of being bullied in school. I felt a bit sorry for the waitress – she felt very uncomfortable.”
The Cafés manager said: “We can’t apologise enough to Rory; in all honesty, we thought he was Sam Gray.”
