Adelaide Crows Coach Donald Pyke is facing a tough decision.
Following the departure of Charlie Cameron and injuries to Riley Knight and Wayne Milera, Pyke must find a young, hot small forward for the upcoming Friday night blockbuster against Essendon.
Despite the emergence of rookie Lachlan Murphy, and the silky skills of Curtly Hampton, Pyke’s mind continues to drift back to most brilliant small forward the game has ever seen – Jason Porplyzia.
The man known as ‘The Porpoise’ who once equalled the record for most goals to start a season without kicking a point, captivated Crows fans with his skill, courage and nous.
“Remember in the 2012 Prelim final when he knocked David Hale out cold and then crumbled under a Ryan Schoenmakers push and shove to milk the free to bring us within a goal. Genius!”
“The bloke did not miss. He was the anti-Nick Gill.”
“Tex is out, so that only leaves Josh (Forward Joshua Jenkins) to produce a bit of magic… God help me.”
“I reckon Porps could get the job done.”
