CEO of the WWE, Vince McMahon, has today launched his own Australian Rules Football league: AFLX.
The former pro-wrestler and billionaire said the AFL and AFLW had lost the necessary biff to bring the punters through the gate. “Not since Mark Bickley laid out Darryl Wakelin in the 2002 Showdown, has there been the level of violence in the game that the fans demand,” said McMahon.
“Gillon and the PC police have killed the AFL. The game needs more pizzazz. Less Luke Jericho, more Chris Jericho. Less Sarah Perkins, more Booker-T.”
“I’ve been body slammed by the President and I’m tellin’ ya: AFLX is gonna be more entertaining.”
Opponents of the new league say they are unlikely to cross over to the new format.
“AFLX will be sh*t. We all know it,” said avid AFL supporter, Chad Rintoul. “Do they really expect us to buy into this wank?”
Whether AFLX will be a serious competitor to the AFL and AFLW is unclear. Either way, we will not be reporting on it.
